About the Club
Currently we have around 75 members of all ages. The club is funded by subscriptions, augmented by some fund-raising activity, and is run entirely by volunteers.
The club is a member of South Aberdeenshire Swimming (SAS) - a composite club made up of Upper Deeside together with Banchory Beavers, Stonehaven and Westhill District clubs. SAS provides a common Squad structure together with additional training and progression opportunities for swimmers
The aim of Upper Deeside Amateur Swimming Club is to improve the swimming of all our members and encourage them to set and work towards 'personal best' (PB) goals. Although most swimmers participate in competitive swimming at appropriate levels, some swimmers choose to follow a recreational training programme, taking part only in club events. We hope all our members will develop a positive sporting attitude, a life-long interest in swimming, personal fitness and health, and that being a member of the club will also help them develop some general life skills, such as social interaction, personal discipline, commitment etc.
To be recognised for the quality of our coaching and teaching
To maintain a strong club identity and team spirit as a focus for members' personal & social development
To support the development of competitive swimming through commitment to the South Aberdeenshire Squad
To be the pathway to a lifetime involvement in swimming
To have fun swimming
